I feel so bad for being quiet over the last few weeks. We’ve been dealing with a lot lately in our little world. Over the long weekend for Independence Day I was sick as a dog! On Thursday, July 2 around 11:00pm I started getting really sweaty and nauseous. We were already in bed – you know since we are a couple of old farts – and I had to get up out of bed and start walking laps around the house. My stomach was in knots, and it went on like this until around 2:00am while I was in and out of the bathroom.
The following day, Friday July 3, we were getting together with a couple of my good friends and their kids and taking a trip to the Zoo! It was a nice warm day, but to meet up with them there at 10am we had to get up around 7:30am to get ready and pack a picnic lunch. I was exhausted. 5 hours of sleep is not early enough for me. I took an HPT just in case (I wasn’t expecting it to be positive) because I wanted to take a dose of Pepto-Bismol before leaving for the Zoo to help calm my tummy so we could have a good day, and a good day we had! Test was negative, took my pepto, and had a nice morning/afternoon with great friends.
That evening though my stomach knotted up again (shortly after we got home from the Zoo). I was so confused because I hadn’t eaten or drank anything out of the ordinary so I didn’t understand why my stomach was so upset. I ended up going to bed really early that evening, and the next day had a bit of a lazy morning trying to rehydrate and recover. It was July 4th and we were planning on going to see Fireworks that evening as a family. Another wonderful day, but my stomach felt a little queasy.
On Sunday, July 5 I was 10dpo and my husband and I agreed that I could start testing. He of course didn’t know about the test I had taken on July 3rd before chugging the pepto! So, first thing on Sunday morning we dipped a Sure Predict as well as a First Response Early Result test. The five minute wait while sitting in bed was agonizing! Again, though, I wasn’t expecting much. I love early testing, but as someone with a normally long luteal phase (16 days) I was still about a week from my missed period. Timer went off, we checked the tests, and THEY WERE POSTIVE. Me, I stared at them in disbelief and laughed out loud. My darling husband said,
“If the lines aren’t the same color its negative though, isn’t it?”
Oh husband! After I assured him it was positive we went on about our day. It wasn’t until two or three days later I took a Clear Blue Digital with Weeks test, and once my husband saw the word “Pregnant” it really sunk in for him. I had my first OB appointment last night and they confirmed the pregnancy and did the full blood panel, etc., to make sure I wasn’t anemic or full of STDs or anything. Our first ultrasound to get an exact due date and see baby’s heartbeat will be on July 29! Two weeks away and I can’t wait!!
We are waiting to tell friends and family until at least 8 weeks, but probably closer to 12 weeks. Just to be sure everything is ok and the pregnancy is viable. So, if any of my friends or family finds this blog and actually reads it – SHHHHHHHHHHHH!
