Only 5 days left in the first trimester! I cannot believe it. I often look ahead at how far we have to go before I get to hold my baby in my arms, and I think that there’s still so much time before that moment. Truly though it’s going by so quickly Baby will be here before we know it.
Recent Symptoms:
- Exhaustion. This is nothing new as I’ve been exhausted even before I found out we were pregnant. Naps, and lots of them for me!
- Spotting! I had a few bouts of spotting in during my 11 week. We talked with the OB about it, and have an additional ultrasound ordered if necessary but it seems to have cleared up on its own. No cramping or pain either so she said there’s not much to worry about.
- Oily Skin. This is my least favorite thing so far. I was hoping I’d be one of those gorgeous pregnant ladies with long nails, thick hair, and that “glow.” No such luck. Any glow I have is from the oil slick on my face. Ugh! Hormones.
- Nausea. Sadly my “morning sickness” seems to have started around week 10, and is still holding on. Still, I don’t feel sick daily which is a true blessing but I have many more queasy days than I did in the beginning. Food aversions are also very real right now. I’ve been living off of toast and Mac & Cheese.
We took a tour of one of the preferred birth centers here in the Twin Cities this week as well. Both my husband and I feel like we are at a bit of a pivotal time when we want to switch from doctor care to midwife care. Neither of us are interested in birthing in the hospital for various reasons – we’ll save all that for a separate post. We are still considering our options, but I have a good feeling about the midwife team and feel of this birth center. So I am hoping we setting on that location to bring our baby into this world.
Nothing else much to report – Some exciting things will be happening this week as on Thursday we are officially in the second trimester and I think we might go “public” about being pregnant. I’m really anxious about that for some reason. As if I’d be jinxing myself if we went public and something bad would happen. It’s got to be done though so my Dad doesn’t lose his mind keeping this secret. Ha!
Now, for the fun part… BUMP PIC!
