MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE! Ok, Christmas was a couple days ago but regardless I hope everyone had a lovely time with family and friends.
One important and very exciting update for me to get out of the way - I PASSED MY GESTATIONAL DIABETES TEST! Hallelujah. I was so nervous. Our Midwife clinic's cutoff for having "elevated" blood sugar is 139, and my test came back with blood sugar at 78. So, not only did I pass but I wasn't even close. I celebrated by indulging in a few too many cookies over Christmas, but I am really glad that is no longer a concern.
My new issue is the decisions as to whether or not to get some of the recommended vaccinations at this stage of my pregnancy. Which is stressful. I told my midwife at our last appointment I feel like knowledge is a curse. I wish I could just get the shots and not care about the what/why of it all, but unfortunately I am not that kind of person. So, I'm stuck on the fence. So, over the last week or so I've been doing more research then anyone else I know on the Rhogam shot (because I have an RH- blood type, and my husband is likely RH+), as well as the TDAP vaccine they are recommending. I won't get into it all in a lot of detail because I know there are anti-vaccination versus vaccination wars out there and I don't want to be a part of all that. I just want to do what's best for me and my family.
With that, lets get to some stats!
28 Week Stats:
12 days until my Baby Shower! Really looking forward to that too, both to celebrate this sweet little baby but also to see all my friends and family. I can never get enough of that. Until next time y'all - lots of love and hugs and a Happy New Year!

With that, lets get to some stats!
28 Week Stats:
- Weight Gain: +8.8lbs total! I think I'm pretty close to a "normal" gain range now, and this was BEFORE all those holiday cookies. Ha!
- Maternity Clothes: I'm on and off with them. I would probably wear maternity pants on a daily basis if I had that many of them, but unfortunately I do not. I have stocked up on maternity tanks though because I feel so exposed or in danger of belly-exposure unless I have a nice long undershirt tucked into my pants.
- Stretch Marks? Still none, but still battling the annoying belly rash. Now that the weather has gotten colder and drier I've been getting really itchy! So, I'm slathering on even more lotion/oil than before. Hopefully that helps deter the stretch marks.
- Sleep: Nope. None of that around here. I have the odd night every so often (like last night!!) when I will mostly sleep through the whole night and it's GLORIOUS but unfortunately that's not the norm. No insomnia necessarily, but I'm having a heck of a time finding comfortable positions to stop the seemingly inevitable hip and back pain.
- Miss Anything? The last couple weeks I've really been missing my pre-pregnancy body. The aches and pains, and SIZE, of the Third Trimester have hit full force and I feel huge and uncomfortable. Makes daydreaming about my pre-pregnancy self happen more often than ever.
- Movement: So. Much. Movement. I often try to determine baby's position by where and how I'm feeling the movements but so far that's been tough. One thing I do know, though, is for only 28 weeks he sure is STRONG. When he really gets going some of those kicks and jabs HURT!
- Food Cravings: Still ice cream!!!! I want all of the ice cream.
- Queasy or Sick? I felt pretty sick/nauseous on Christmas Day. Which was a total bummer! I kind of felt like I was coming down with something, though. I had a sore scratchy throat, very fatigued, and nauseous. I spent the day or so after Christmas making sure to hydrate and rest, and it seems to have passed. Hopefully it was just a bug and it's gone now.
- Best Moment this Week: Passing my GD test, for sure. Second to that - I caught baby moving on camera. I've been trying every since the first time I saw movement on the outside and I was finally successful. Check out my Instagram to see the video! (@MaeisbeforeJune)
- Symptoms: I am exactly 4 days into the 3rd Trimester, and I feel like all of the woes of this last trimester have hit me like a ton of bricks. I am exhausted, excessively thirsty all of the time, having back and hip pain like crazy, and the big big belly is really popping out.
- Labor Signs? Still no labor signs. Husband and I were out shopping over the weekend, and when I was walking around the store I felt some really intense shooting pains in my lady bits. It felt like they started in my cervix and radiated out down my vagina as well as up into my uterus. I don't think this was a labor sign so much as perhaps baby was jabbing me in the cervix, but as a FTM (first time mom) I can't be sure about that!
- Belly Button - In or Out? Still pretty flat! I take back what I said last time though - I have a feeling it'll pop out any time now. My belly seems to be growing by the minute.
- Wedding Rings - On or Off? On! Still no swelling thank goodness.
- Happy or Moody? Very moody. I have had quite a few sad/depressed days in the last couple weeks. Not really for any reason in particular but just feeling down.
- Looking forward to: Staring to set up the nursery! That's right, I'm in the 3rd Trimester already and haven't even started. More on that next time, but over the weekend Husband and I did take the first step and got the room painted! Baby steps are progress!! and it definitely spurred my desire to keep going with it and get it set up. I'm so excited!
