Clearly this mix of motherhood and blogging hasn't been going well for me. It's been six months since my last post, and as a follow up - Lincoln continues to progress with his sleeping. He's a very keen 16month old now who had slept through the night twice in the last couple months. Progress!!
In May, however, Lincoln was diagnosed with an ear infection that took two months and three different antibiotics to get rid of. It was a rough couple of months with a lot of tears (mostly his, but definitely some of mine also) and not much sleep. So, now that is all over we are focusing on Lincoln's transition from "baby" to "Toddler." He has been walking since December, feeds himself very well with utensils, he's getting the hang of brushing his hair and teeth - though still needs help from me on those things. In the next couple weeks he will be moving from the infant to toddler room at school too! With that he will be transitioning from sleeping in a crib to on a cot.
To say I'm terrified and anxious is an understatement. We don't plan to move him to a "big boy bed" at home yet, as we are still working on sleeping through the night so I worry how it'll effect his sleep during the day (how long will his comfort transition take? How will his naps be? Is he going to be overtired and crabby when I pick him up?) as well as at night (will he start trying to get out of his crib? Will be sleep worse at night?). I'll keep you all update on that I guess, but one thing that calms my Mama nerves is two of his little buddies in class will also be transitioning to the toddler room at the same time. My hope is that this helps him feel more comfortable and confident having familiar faces around.
How about you! Have you dealt with the infant to toddler transition? Any road bumps you want to warn me about? Any big transitions of your own in the works? Leave a comment below!
